Warehousing Chennai
Warehouse is a commercial space that is used to store goods by exporters, importers, customs
houses, transporters, manufacturers etc. The business of providing with warehouse facility is
termed as warehousing. Warehousing is a necessary component in the supply chain as a safe and
secure place is necessary for storage of goods. Warehouses normally are equipped with storage
systems like racks, modules and carousels; and moving systems like cranes, forklifts etc.
Warehousing
Warehousing is quite often thought of just storing and transporting goods from one place to another. Not really. It is something more than that. It can help build third world economies to a great extent. Now look at one great problem that plagues third world countries. Lack of proper storage for agricultural commodities! Agricultural produces are highly perishable and require special cold storage warehousing and cold storage transportation to take them to market.
Warehousing in India with respect to agricultural produce storing has still not taken off while it should have, given its large population and an economy largely based on agriculture. As a matter of fact Agricultural Finance Sub-Committee and the Rural Banking Enquiry Committee constituted before 50 years emphasized that warehousing in India is a pre-requisite for banking penetration. But unfortunately even after half a century this simple thought of setting up cold storage and modern warehousing has not been scaled up.
The greatest advantages of having agricultural warehouses are
1) The huge wastages of agricultural products that occur due to improper storage can be avoided and can result in better returns for farmers.
2) A successful implementation of cold storage and warehousing in rural hubs can facilitate agricultural product pricing in the future by government agencies.
3) The rising food prices and inflation can be contained to some extent owing to better management of food resource. This factor assumes greater significance owing to an unprecedented increase in inflation.
Warehouse Chennai can be implemented in cities like Chennai, all district capitals, Kodaikanal, Oddanchatram (which has the largest vegetable wholesale market in Tamil Nadu). Warehouse India can be implemented in all State capitals, Nagpur, Other town where agricultural products are easily procured, stored and can be transported to different parts of the country.
In my opinion a robust warehousing plan for rural India helps true economic development. Any development that is inclusive and kind of embraces all players in the society creates a more stable society. So let us contribute to our economy by creating large, much needed warehouses.
Unaccompanied Baggage
Airlines have strict rules on the weight of baggage that can be carried by passengers while
they travel. Airlines traveling from Indian to destinations in Europe, Middle East, Far East
and other Asian countries allow only 23 kgs per passenger as free allowance baggage. Airlines
flying trans Atlantic allow a maximum of 64 kgs per passenger as free allowance baggage.
Anything carried as extra attracts Excess Baggage charges which are prohibitively higher. In
order to save money on this, one can preplan their baggage before traveling and can opt for
Unaccompanied Baggage services, often termed as UB services. In this customers can set aside
the excess baggage and can take the help of any freight forwarders who are in the business of
providing UB services.

Air Freight
Airfreight is a vital component in international trade which has become essential in the
current globalized economy. It has given impetus to world trade and has reduced the critical
parameter of time. With the advent of airfreight it is very much possible to transport
consignments that are highly perishable in nature, to distant lands. Airfreight are operated by
dedicated cargo carriers like FedEx, UPS Airlines and some are subsidiaries of larger passenger
airlines like Lufhansa Cargo, Singapore Airlines Cargo, Air India Cargo etc.
Consultancy
Advising the exporter, importer, manufacturer or transporter on matters of logistics,
transportation, supply chain, warehousing, customs procedures, etc constitutes consulting in
the Freight forwarding business. This consulting comes in handy for the concerned who would
want to carry on with their business routine without soiling their hands into the nitty-gritty
of the formalities and procedures, which is time consuming and deviates the businessmen from
their core business -model.
